Contemporary Melbourne newspaper cartoonist and architect, Bastow studied Fine Arts at Melbourne University and her cartoon work regularly appeared in the Weekend Australian magazine throughout the early 1990s.
cartoonist and architect, does delicately coloured cartoons such as Preliminary design concepts Part 1: The Walkman (a Japanese woman with an enormous Walkman strapped on her back done in Japanese woodcut style), Weekend Australian Magazine 31 October-1 November 1992 (reproduced Richardson, 114). She regularly appeared in the Weekend Australian Magazine in the early 1990s but seems to have ceased altogether by 1998. A former Fine Arts student of Roger Benjamin’s at Melbourne University, 'Pol’ is also a qualified architect.
