Born near Tennant Creek close to the country of his mother. His father came from Yarturlu-yarturlu, which is the Granites. His Dreamings were Jangangpa and Laju. He was Warlpiri and often worked with his wife, Valerie Patterson , a common pattern at Lajamanu. They started painting in 1986. They were both devout Christians. Rex Patterson Jupurrurla intended to study for the ministry.
