His father was partner in a Bank which failed in 1825; the family lost its fortune. At 57 years old, he wed the 19 year old Harriet Ann Durant on September 2, 1856 at Ballarat, his second marriage. He and Harriet Ann had six children. Richard Rishworth, listed in the Ballarat Directory in 1857 as artist and decorator,lived at Bakery Hill, Ballarat East, Victoria. Also Secy. for Vic. G.M. Co., Swamp, Ballarat.
