Richard William Winter was a professional photographer and printer. He worked in partnership with his younger brother Alfred Winter in Melbourne in the 1860s.

He was at 7 Bourke Street East in 1863-64, then in partnership with his younger brother Alfred Winter at 90 Bourke Street East in 1865. They lived with their parents at 172 Latrobe Street, East Melbourne; Richard William was working from this address in 1867 while Alfred tried his luck in Tasmania. Later Richard became a printer at Adelaide, South Australia.
