Ross Gardam has worked solidly in environmental, interior and product design, delivering design solutions to a diverse range of clients. Since graduating in industrial design at Monash University in 1999, Gardam has worked both in Australia and abroad across a range of design disciplines for a number of large commercial firms.

Having spent two years in London establishing Spaceleft design company, Gardam returned to Melbourne in 2007 with a commitment to grow and establish the young business. Spaceleft is a dynamic business, valuing technologically advanced materials and processes alongside craft, heritage and hand skills. Spaceleft specialises in the design of product and spaces.

Gardam has developed and exhibited a number of aclaimed furniture and lighting products over the past five years. Collaborating with local manufacturers and industry specialist Gardam is now working with Australia’s leading distributor, Stylecraft. Gardam is also now working under the brand Ross Gardam for all furniture and lighting products

Gardam’s design approach has been shaped over time with earlier works focused on exploration of material use and manufacturing process. Gardam’s aim with any new project is to create a simply beautiful design solution. Simplicity is often the most challenging part of the process. Throughout the design process the positive and negative legacies of his ideas are always explored to create smarter design solutions.
