Ruby Ludwick of the Gunganji tribal group of Yarrabah, North Queensland is a weaver of large floor mats. She uses the technique and style taught to her by her mother and grandmother.
Ruby Ludwick of the Gunganji tribal group of Yarrabah, North Queensland was taught to weave with Panadanus Palm by her mother and grandmother. In particular they taught her how to make large woven floor mats. Ludwick’s contemporary weavings are mats and trays and she now teaches her own granddaughter the craft of basketry. Her work was featured in the 2001 exhibition “Gatherings, Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art from Queensland, Australia”.
