Born in 1952, Blau lives and works in Sydney. He has been exhibiting since the 1980s.
Simon Blau’s painting, watercolour and assemblage considers the history of abstraction and the everyday, especially regarding the nature of existence, materiality and immateriality. He has often collaborated with Jelle van den Berg.
His work is held in The National Gallery of Australia, The National Gallery of Victoria, Wollongong City Gallery and Artbank as well as corporate and private collections including The Baillieu Myer Collection of Contemporary Art, Melbourne.
