One of the most literate people in European terms in Kintore, Smithy served as Administrator of the Community Health Service and also painted occasionally for Papunya Tula Artists.
Younger brother of Ronnie Tjampitjinpa and Yuyuya Nampitjinpa, Smithy Zimran came in to Yuendumu settlement as a baby and later joined other relatives at Papunya. One of the most literate people in European terms in Kintore, Smithy served as Administrator of the Community Health Service. He painted occasionally in the late 1980s. His country was south-west of Kintore around Lampintja.
