Born 'in the bush’ c. 1932, Susie Bootja Bootja was a senior woman in the Balgo community. As well as doing her own paintings, she enjoyed working with other painters, and frequently helped on paintings by her husband, Mick Gill . A Kukatja speaker, her country lay around White Hills and Helena Spring (Kurtal). She usually painted Water Dreamings. She had been painting for Warlayirti Artists since 1987. Bootja Bootja’s was a bold, colourful style which served to give a powerful statement of her country and its many major water sources. She lived and worked at Balgo. Collections: Holmes à Court
