Suzanne Moss was born in Sydney in 1963. In her early twenties, Moss attended the Lorenzo Scuolo de Medici in Florence, Italy. On her return she commenced a Bachelor of Fine Art at Charles Sturt University. In 2003, Moss completed her studies at the Australian National University, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Visual Arts (First Class Honours) and the University Medal. Moss commenced her PhD in 2006, investigating the methods, materiality, spatial illusions and poetics of painted light. In 2008, she received an ANU post-graduate research grant, which enabled her to travel to Florence, London and New York. Moss completed her PhD in 2010.

In 2004, Moss was selected to exhibit in Perth Institute of Contemporary Art’s (PICA) annual 'Hatched’ exhibition, a survey of graduate work across Australia. Moss has also featured in group exhibitions at artist-run-initiatives including M16 Artspace, ANCA Gallery, Canberra, Langford120, Melbourne and Canberra Contemporary Art Space (CCAS).

In 2010, Moss’ painting Love in the Time of Quanta was selected for the 59th Blake Prize. In 2012, Moss received an ArtsACT grant for New Work. Her inaugural solo exhibition at Liverpool Street Gallery, 'Painting Light, Touching Space’, was held in 2012. In 2012, Moss was awarded The Rosalie Gascoigne Memorial Award, administered by The Capital Arts Patrons’ Organisation (CAPO) which supports and celebrates local artists in Canberra.

Suzanne Moss lives and works in Canberra. She has lectured at the ANU School of Art in Painting, Life Drawing and Art Theory. Moss’ work is represented in the collections of The Australian War Memorial, The Embassy of Spain as well as private collections in Australia and the United Kingdom.
