travelling photographer, was charged in April 1867 with stealing ’2 cameras, 2 lenses, and stands’ from Henry Kerr in Swanston Street, Melbourne. Stated to have been about forty-two and a native of Wales, 5 feet 9 inches (175 cm) tall, dark-complexioned and favouring either a bell-topper or straw hat, Griffiths was reputedly travelling to Warrnambool, Victoria, 'with a four-wheeled American waggon with Portraits and Views on both sides’. Despite the conspicuous conveyance, no arrest was reported.
