Warlpiri speaker who lives in Yuendumu and paints for Warlukurlangu Artists. Her work was included in international touring exhibitions, such as "Aratjara" and "Dreamings", and is held in major public and private collections.
Born in 1944, Tilo Jurra was a Warlpiri speaker who lived at Yuendumu and had been painting for Warlukurlangu Artists since the mid ’80s. She painted her Ngapa (Water) and Yankirri (Emu) Dreamings. Her work has been exhibited with that of other Yuendumu painters in exhibitions in Perth, Alice Springs, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Darwin and was included in the Dreamings – the Art of Aboriginal Australia exhibition which toured North America in 1988-9, and Mythscapes at the National Gallery of Victoria in 1989 and Dreamings at the South Australian Museum in 1990. Tilo was one of 42 Yuendumu painters who worked on the 7 × 3m canvas which toured Europe with the 1993 Aratjara – Art of the First Australians exhibition.
