Troy Innocent is a self-described “transmedia artist” – a “world builder, iconographer and reality newbie”. Working across media and on and offline realties his work since the 1990s has explored the interaction and play between machine and human languages, augmented realities and game play.


His artificial worlds – Iconica [1998] and Semiomorph [2002] – “...explore the dynamic between the iconic ideal and the personal specific, the real and the simulated, and the way in which our identity is shaped by language and communication” [Troyinnocent.net].


He has won a number of awards for his work including Honorary Mention, LIFE 2.0: Artificial Life, Spain (1999); Foreign Title Award, MMCA Multimedia Grand Prix, Japan (1998); and Honorary Mention, Prix Ars Electronica (1992).
