cartoonist, commercial artist and illustrator, drew cartoons signed 'Val’ for Man from the November 1946 issue, i.e. “Dear Mr. Bixby, replying to your most explicit, very well conceived and excellently expressed proposition forwarded with your most welcome corsage of orchids, the answer is still 'No’!” (p.58). Others in file include: (tailor cutting into woman’s dress cleavage) “Say when…” December 1947, 17; illustrations to story 'The First Dance…The Last Kiss’, January 1948, 40-41; “How did you know my husband stays home nights?” February 1948, 16; Cover of beach scene with woman holding boyfriend back from other girls with her plait, used like a lassoo, August 1952. Beckhouse was still doing large coloured gags about glamorous sexy women in 1961, and possibly later. She was then also drawing serious sketches of the Borovansky ballet.
