Quaife was a painter who received her artistic training at the Sydney Art School under Julian Ashton and Sydney Long. Fellow students included Nelle Rodd. In the same student cohort as Elioth Gruner, Isabel McWhannell and Ruby Winckler at the Sydney Art School.
Painter, received her artistic training at the Sydney Art School under Julian Ashton and Sydney Long (c.1908-10) where she was awarded several student prizes, including a first for 'Figure Composition’ (with Nelle Rodd second). A watercolour flower study initialled 'V.A.Q.’ and dated 1925 is held in private collection. The sixth of eight children of Dr Frederic Harrison Quaife and Esther nee Davy. Attended Riviere College Woollahra in 1898. In April 1907 travelled to Europe with two sisters and brother. Married Sydney George Ure Smith 1909 May 6, marriage ended c1920. Exhibited with the Society of Artists, Water colour Institute, Women’s Exhibition Sydney (1934).
