former actress and elocution artists from childhood, turned thertre designer cartoonist and illustrator, drew illustrations in Home c.1924-27, her subjects being social events like the David Jones’ Ball (1 June 1924, 58A) or people at a gymkhana (cover, 1 November 1924). The artist may be the Wanda Radford of South Australia something of a prodigy as child actress and reciter who left for a conservatoire in Germany under her father’ care in 1905 and was reported in the Adelaide observer__23 March 1907 as employed by the German Kaiser to give his children acting lessons. On 6 May actress Wanda had performed dramatic monologues at Steinway Hall, London. Wanda the actress was a daughter of the secretary of R Radford the A.B.C.Cafe in Pitt street Sydney.
