Young exploratory surveyor who impressed others with his work so much that they named the most beautiful waterfall in that area 'Govett's Leap'. He was especially interested in depicting local Aborigines and their customs.

sketcher and surveyor, was born in Tiverton, England, on 3 October 1807, son of John Govett, a surgeon and mayor of Tiverton in 1815.
