He was born in England c 1838
at age 3 he resided with his father Philip Newport at
St Swithin London Stone, Middlesex, England

At Adelaide on 15 September 1862, Newport married Bridget Ann Buckley; at St. Patrick’s Church, Adelaide, South Australia Bridget came to Australia with her parents, John, Mary and Brothers Patrick, and John and sister Mary from Limerick Ireland.
