Emigrating from the USA, William True Bennett was a highly regarded photographer who lived and worked mostly in Queensland. The nineteenth-century equivalent to the modern photojournalist, Bennett was highly sought after and arguably the first professional photographer known to have so specifically and comprehensively tackled Queensland - its landscape, Indigenous people and development as a separ
