Wendy Walker is a critic and writer on Australian art.

From 1999-2006 Walker wrote for The Advertiser, then The Australian, from 2006-2016 and wrote occasional reviews for the Australian Book Review (2008–2011) and Artlink. She was editor of Broadsheet: Visual Arts + Culture which was published by the Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia(2015–2018) and is the Adelaide Corresponding Editor for London’s Contemporary magazine.

An art historian, she is the author of Deborah Paauwe: Beautiful games (2004), Sydney Ball: The colour paintings 1963-2007 (2008), Sydney Ball: The Stain paintings 1971–80 (2013) and Kirsten Coelho (2020)

In 2006 she was the recipient of inaugural Samstag Writer-in-Residence at the South Australian School of Art

For the at the Victoria and Albert Museum also in 2006, she curated Australian Contemporary for Collect – an initiative supported by the Australia Council for the Arts.

She resides with her partner in the Adelaide Hills.
