The subject is a well-known public man, whose face may be recognised at a glance. The drawing is in Indian ink, and after being framed will be exhibited in one of our leading stationer’s windows. Mr Barrow, whose talent in this direction is of no mean order, has executed several drawings, but this is the first of its kind that has been made public’ ( Mercury , 1 January 1884, 2).
