sketcher and tobacconist, apparently painted a marine watercolour in 1859, The R.M.S.P. Co.'s Steamer ONIEDA [sic] nearing Sydney Heads (private collection, photograph Mitchell Library), but is far better known for his tobacco shop in George Street, Sydney. G.B. Goodman displayed samples of his daguerreotypes there in January 1845. An interior view of the exceedingly well-stocked premises appeared as an advertisement in Sydney Punch on 24 January 1857, complete with military personnel taking their ease and (possibly) the proprietor behind the counter. It was drawn by C.W. Andrews and engraved by W.G. Mason .
