painter, lived in Charters Towers and painted views of North Queensland – an ancestor of Richard Allom, architect, Brisbane. Known works include a good, naïve, panoramic oil on canvas Charters Towers 1895. His view of Townsville painted in 1876 and originally owned by James Burns has not been located, but the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery owns Townsville [ painted from the Evans Deakin slipway, Ross Creek ]1882 (according to Dorothy Gibson-Wilde), oil on canvas purchased 1995, included in Blighted Paradise (Townsville AG) in 2001 dated 1884. Allom was one of the few professional artists living in North Queensland painting portraits. Records exist of portraits of politicians A.H. Palmer and John Douglas, the latter believed to be held by descendants of the sitter (Gibson-Wilde, p.123).
