William Robinson was a professional photographer in Melbourne in the 1850s.

professional photographer, advertised in 1855 that he was taking daguerreotypes in his studio at 86 Collins Street, East Melbourne and locals 'should not miss such an opportunity of sending so pleasing and welcome a gift to their anxious relatives in the mother country’. Boxes of daguerreotype portraits, he stated, were sent to England by every mail.
