Winnifred West b. 1 January 1881

West was an artist, studying with Julian Ashton, Sydney. She was a co-founder of Frensham, a girls' school in Mittagong NSW. In 1941, she founded "Sturt", a craft workshop based at Frensham. The workshop, loosely founded on Arts and Crafts traditions, taught textile, pottery and woodworking.
