Dr Dorothy Erickson is an art historian, curator, editor and author who won the inaugural 'Australiana' Prize for Writing in 1994. Since 1977 she has written extensively for international art and design journals. She was WA editor of Artlink for ten years and was on the WA working party for the Australian Dictionary of Biography. She is the author of 'Gold and Silversmithing in Western Australia: A History' and 'A Joy forever: The Story of Kings Park', editor of 'Art and Design in Western Australia: Perth Technical School 1900-2000', and contributor to 'Heritage: the National Women's Art Book' (Kerr), 'Australian Dictionary of Biography', 'Grove Encyclopaedia of Australasian Art', 'Historical encyclopedia of Western Australia' (Gregory & Gothard), 'Gold: forgotten histories and lost objects of Australia' (MacCalman et al) and 'Australian Art Pottery 1900–1950' (Fahy et al). She is currently completing a manuscript on Western Australian design 1829-1999 and a dictionary of designer/makers in WA 1829-1959 . Dr Erickson is an Honorary Fellow and Life Member of Craftwest and research associate of Curtin University and the WA Museum. She is a principal of Erickson & Taylor: Art, Design and Heritage consultants.
