Biography

I am a full time visual artist, arts researcher and educator. In 2014 I was awarded a PhD from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University Brisbane. In my research project, I investigated how artists can explore and represent the enigmas that quantum physics presents to our perceived reality; and more specifically, how can artists facilitate a viewer to doubt conventional reality? My current ongoing project, Sacred Gaia Healing™, examines how capitalist positioning of over-valued services and products, targeting New Age gullibility, mocks the feminine, nature and ecology as well as ridiculing and devaluing possible underlying merit in in the metaphysical, the intuitive and consciousness. This may seem a quantum leap from my PhD research, however, it has always interested me how some elements of the New Age claim that quantum mechanics underpins their ideas and I am exploring this claimed connection in the Sacred Gaia Healing™project.

My studio practice involves painting, drawing, collage, video, installation and including, recently through my latest project, performative aspects.

In visual art as a sessional teacher, I have taught Painting, Drawing, Ideas and Images and Law for Artists and Designers in the Bachelor Degree at the Queensland College of Art and at Canberra University (run out of TAFE South Bank). I have also lectured and tutored in Law at QUT and Griffith University. I have taught in the VET sector (at Cert III, and Diploma Level) in visual art at TAFE Brisbane over three semesters in 2015 and 2016. I currently tutor as a sessional academic in Foundation Units in the Bachelor of Creative Industries at QUT.
