botanical artist, arrived at Hobart Town, Van Diemen’s Land, with her husband Charles and their family on board the Lillias in June 1841. Charles Buckland was employed in the Audit Department until pensioned off in 1871 while Ann Eliza and a daughter opened a school soon after their arrival which offered 'instruction in Music, Singing, French, Drawing and Dancing’ at their home in Davey Street. Mrs Buckland painted three watercolours of native flowers in 1847, a Swamp Oak in 1849 and a Clematis blanda in 1850. All are initialled A.E.B. and one has the location New Norfolk (Tasmania) added. An unsigned watercolour, Acacia , is also attributed to her. All are now in the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.
