Brian Tunks established Bison Australia in 1997 to make a wide range of ‘mix and match’ table-ware in stoneware clay. From small beginnings, slip casting forms in his father’s shed, Tunks moved in 2004 to a factory in Pialligo, Australian Capital Territory. Bison table-ware has a substantial market in Australia and overseas, achieved in part by Bison’s promotion strategy of including its tableware in photographic features in food and wine magazines.

Bison table-ware was part of the exhibition 'Smart works: design and the handmade’ (2007) at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
