Reed was a gallery manager and the founder of Cynthia Reed Modern Furnishings, Little Collins Street, Melbourne, a progressive gallery that exhibited work by some of Melbourne's pioneering designers. Reed also designed furniture and a corner cupboard by her was exhibited and illustrated in 1933.
