Embroiderer Eliza Broadhurst, granddaughter of the Earl of Inchiquin, married Charles Edward Broadhurst, pastoralist and pearler in 1860 in Melbourne, Victoria. They were pioneers in the Nor’ West and he was promoter of the ill-conceived Denison Plains Co. He also started fish canning in Mandurah and had guano interests in the Abhrolos. He was a Member of the Legislative Council.

They lived on their station on the Ashburton River at least for part of the year. There is a beautiful 'Scottish flowering’ christening gown dating from around 1860s made by Mrs Broadhurst, in the Royal Western Australian Historical Society collection.
