The Australian Modern: Mid-Century Architecture and Design site reports that Pandar was formed by the British designer Bernard Goss after he arrived in Melbourne in 1951. In partnership with William Palstra, the Pandar line launched in 1955 with a steel-framed upholstered armchair. In 1975, Pandar was manufacturing a laminated ash framed chair as Vaasa, described as 'Scandinavian designed" in Architecture Australia ads.
