James Charles White b. 1809

Also known as J. C. White
  • Artist (Draughtsman)
Sketcher and property manager who came to Australia from India in the early 1830s. He erected the famous Jondaryan woolshed, then the largest on the Darling Downs and now a major tourist attraction. On his way to visit his daughter in New Zealand in 1894, White unfortunately drowned when his ship, the Wairarapa, was wrecked off Barrier Island.
