china painter, was born on 20 December 1883. She began painting china before World War I. During the early 1920s, she attended classes in china painting held by Miss Blanche Davis at her studio in Collins Street, Melbourne. In September 1924 Jessie exhibited her 'decorated porcelain’ at the Fine Art Society’s Gallery, 100 Exhibition Street, Melbourne, in a joint show with her uncle, Tom Roberts (husband of Lillie Williamson ), who showed paintings.
Jessie Simpson ceased painting china after her marriage to Rev. E.E. Watts, who worked with the Mission to Seamen. She accompanied and assisted her husband at various mission posts, both overseas and in Australia. She died in Perth on 6 July 1965.
