Riggall was an academic painter who enjoyed early success in her career both in Melbourne and Paris before it was cut short by her death at age fifty in WW1.
The Académie Delécluse was an atelier-style art school in Paris, France, founded in the late 19th century by the painter Auguste Joseph Delécluse. It was exceptionally supportive of women artists.
