Marie Tuck was a South Australian painter and printmaker. Heavily Influenced by French culture and painting, Tuck travelled to France where she took lessons from the Paris-based Australian painter Rupert Bunny, cleaning his studio as payment. The outbreak of WW1 that brought Tuck back to Australia.

Description

The Fairview Private Art Collection is housed in a historic Queen Anne Federation villa located within Subiaco’s historic Chester’s estate and built in 1915 for John Kennedy, a Scottish Ice Engineer who ran the Perth Ice Works. The collection has a focus on South Australian and West Australian artists from the 1850s to present day. A 48-page illustrated catalogue was published.

Exhibition showcasing highlights from the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art (CCWA), which was gifted to the University of Western Australia in 2007. A companion publication titled 'Into the Light’ that documented the history and key works of the CCWA was released to coincide with the exhibition, which also featured a symposium – 'Are we there yet?’ – discussing women’s participation in art and art history and the future of feminism in the arts.
