Mary Thomas lived in the bush with her grandmother learning the life skills necessary for survival. She was one of the leaders and teachers of the younger women in Warmun Art Centre song and dance events until an illness left her unable to walk. She is a Gija language teacher and has been a key participant in Gija community healing activities.
