McDougall, Nora. (b.1900) While little has been discovered to date regarding Nora McDougall’s career, this interior designer born at Maitland, in the rural districts of northwestern NSW, had studied in Sydney, Paris and London “specialising in interior decoration”. During wartime, she wrote Interior Decoration for Australians (ca.1941), an education booklet for the Australian Army Education Service. In the late 1940s, she was touring Australia and giving lectures in interior decoration, notably at the Myer Emporium in 1947. She also opened the Sydney Interior Decoration Studio, 290 New South Head Road, Edgecliff, NSW where she was principal. In 1949, she released Make your house a home : How to decorate. (illustrated by Elizabeth Guion King) published by the Sydney Interior Decoration Studio, 1949.
