Rachel was born in Jerusalem, Israel and arrived in Australia in 1970. She received a Diploma of Design and Fine Art at Monash University and a Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Melbourne.

Rovay’s paintings and works on paper thematically focus on the experience of living in and around the urban environment. They focus on the rich urban narrative that unfolds and evolves on a daily basis, creating a perception of change and development.

The intention in Rovay’s work is to impart a sensation of the urban environment as it is perceived and not as it is known. The viewer is invited to experience a perpetual transit of colour and tone.

The interpreted reality of the everyday passes through a colour “filter”.

The “practice” of everyday life.
