In the 1860s-70s he redrew cartoons from London Punch for the Illustrated Sydney News , e.g. Taking “Edinburgh” by storm; or the Prince cannonaded by photographers and “Who shall be fairest?” or, the Prince and his partners ', published Illustrated Sydney News (from Punch ) 16 October 1867, 254. Another , The Modern Jack the Giant Killer , was published in the Illustrated Sydney News (from Punch ) on 16 May 1876, 174. Since 'JA’ or 'AJ’ illustrated 'The surrender of the bushrangers Clarke to Wright’s party of police’, Illustrated Sydney News 16 May 1867, 164; he was presumably a local artist.
