Andrew Sayers b. 29 June 1957

Sayers studied at Sydney Uni and began his curatorial career at the Art Gallery of NSW in 1979, later moving to Newcastle Regional Art Gallery. The National Gallery of Australia was his next position in 1985 where he began a significant exhibition and publishing career. In 1998, he was the inaugural director of the National Portrait Gallery. He withdrew from museums in 2013, moving to Melbourne to begin a painting career.
