Taplin was an interior designer and textile designer working from a studio in Toorak Road, South Yarra, later "Colour Cottage", Murphy Street, South Yarra. Her printed textiles were produced under the name Falkiner Fabrics and references suggest the fabrics were screen-prints. There are also references to her prints drawing on Australian flora and fauna in the 1950s.
