Warlpiri artist who lives in Lajamanu (NT) and is best known for his unusually restricted palette - often simply white and brown on black. He has been painting since 1986.
Born c.1940 in the Central Tanami, his language/tribe is Warlpiri and country Yinapalku. His Dreamings are Turlturlypa, Ngayaki (Bush Tomato) and Yarla (Yam). He lives at Lajamanu and sometimes works with his wife, Marlene Johnson . He started painting in 1986. His powerful paintings are unusual for their restricted palette – often white and brown on black.
