Cecily Adams was senior decorator at Beard Watsons, Sydney, later in private practice in Castlecrag. She was a founding member of the SIDA in 1951. Educated at Strathcona Melbourne, she relocated to Sydney in 1932 and studied art at the East Sydney Technical College under Rayner Hoff. Her book, "From the Diary of an Australian Decorator", published by Child and Henry in 1986 is a memoir of her career in interior design.

Exhibition. Society of Interior Designers, Woollahra Arts Centre, 1953 (catalogue, unpaginated). This was the Society of Interior Designers of Australia’s first exhibition. It included work by Hilda Abbott, George Korody, Cecily Adams, Bruce Tebbutt, Joyce Tebbutt, Marion Best, Donald Shaw, Ruth Sloane, Stuart Low and interior design student members from East Sydney Technical College: Barbara Hansen (architecture student, Sydney Univ), Lois Dawson (Anthony Horderns), Vivienne Chaffer (colour consultant Sterling Paints) , Yvonne Bush (Dykes-Johnston) and Jill Townsend.
