Cleo Gardiner in an Australian-born Sydney-based artist. ¶
Her work is interdisciplinary with her use of multimedia, sounds, etching, print, installation and performance art. She is also an activist and writer. ¶

Through her work she explores issues relating to gender, class, sexuality, identity and the body. Her work is both highly political and somewhat subversive. ¶

Her workCleo is largely influenced by the likes of Nan Goldin, Frida Kahlo, Yoko Ono, Francesca Woodman and John Waters ;figures who she acknowledges have “inspired and introduced me to art, poetry, politics and made the world a beautiful and normalised place”. ¶

In her subjects, Cleoshe often gravitates toward exploring icons who society may regard as outsiders as well as those who advocate left, queer, feminist, humanist and cultural politics.
