Diana Luxton Messara

Messara is an interior design and artist who worked on interiors for the Shell Corporation, Melbourne and Caterpillar, Tullamarine. She later worked with Myer, Melbourne and travelled to the UK. From 1968-1972, she worked on the Sydney Opera House with Hall, Todd and Littlemore Architects after the departure of Jorn Utzon. IN NSW, she worked with the NSW Govt Architect and undertook further tertiary training.

Messara was particularly involved in the design development of the seating at the Sydney Opera House. Anne Watson has written that “Seating had in fact been one of the critical factors contributing to [Jorn] Utzon’s withdrawal from the project on 28 February 1966.”Watson, Ann (2010) 'A Titled Tale: how the Sydney Opera House got its seats.
