professional photographer, had a studio in Sydney in the 1930s. She took a photograph of Florence Taylor (Mitchell Library, PXA 218, no.18) reproduced with the Taylor biography in Heritage. Another of Welding’s photographs is Her Majesty Queen Salote of Tonga, the only remaining independent monarch in the Pacific, taken when the queen and prince consort/prime minister were in Sydney in June 1935 visiting their son who was a student at Newington College, his father’s old school (ill B.P. Magazine 1 September 1936, 57).
