professional photographer, had a studio in Sydney in the 1930s. She took a photograph of Florence Taylor (Mitchell Library, PXA 218, no.18) reproduced with the Taylor biography in Heritage . Another of Welding’s photographs is Her Majesty Queen Salote of Tonga, the only remaining independent monarch in the Pacific , taken when the queen and prince consort/prime minister were in Sydney in June 1935 visiting their son who was a student at Newington College, his father’s old school (ill B.P. Magazine 1 September 1936, 57).
