Bevan was a typographer who established a graphic arts business Dalley Typesetting P/L, later known as Paul Dalley Apex P/L. He introduced computerised transfer of images from film to lithographic plates for 4-colour printing and was involved in the abandonment of hot-type to computerised typesetting. His firm, then known as Adtype, was acquired by Harland and Hyde in 1993.
