Milton designed the injection-moulded plastic milk crate for the Dairy Farmers Co-operative in the 1950s (date uncertain). Martin is an engineer and worked with the plastics manufacturer Nally to produce the crate which went into production in the mid-1960s. A similar crate was designed by J. Houston Rehrig of Pasadena, California and patented in the USA in 1966.
